The zombie genre’s relentless advance achieves infection of the upper hollywood echelons as Brad Pitt goes the way of the axe and the head shot. Zombiedom’s transmutation from resurrection to viral plague now seems complete (when was the last time you saw a zombie claw its way out of a freshly tilled grave?) representing a DNA meld with the vampire genre into a cinema-friendly fast-paced super-cannibalism. It is now the dominant myth of our times. It is zombies that will end us. We have zombie super-bugs, zombie corporations, zombie film genres and well there’s just zombie us, just biting into everything without relent till there’s nothing left. It’s just not in us to stop. “It’s people!”
